In this video I will discuss the domain name registration and configuration process. Not too long ago, I decided to build a ton of landing pages for various reasons. I discovered that SEO plays a very important part of my landing pages ranking in the search engines. I discovered that I could get my pages to rank easier if I included the keyword or key phrase that I am trying to rank for, in the domain name!

Upon discovering this, I purchased quite a few but quickly realized how expensive it could be, Especially if you living paycheck to paycheck how I was at the time barely having any extra cash for business. I found out though, that i could get one domain name and just create subdomains from the one. This will help you to rank and save you allot of money.

So today I was in the market for a good domain name that I could use as like the umbrella domain for all of the landing pages I am about to build hence forth. I want to build landing pages targeting a specific city so i wanted the term local to be in there. Sometimes it takes hours for me to come up with a website domain, sometimes it just comes to me. This once came so fast i purchased it and was about to set it up when i was like… “wait!… I can make a video of this and use it as a teaching moment. That is exactly how this post came about.

So… Lets focus on while were here….

First let me explain what a domain is for those who may not know.
What is a Domain Name? A domain name is a unique set of characters that identifies a specific website . In a lot of ways, a domain name has the same relationship to a website as a street address has to a house.

Domain Name Registration

Here are two things to consider when purchasing your website domain:

  1. Domain Name Registration: = Domain name registration is the act of reserving a name on the Internet for a certain period, usually one year. It is important to know that this domain will remain yours for as long as you renew it and there is no way to purchase a domain name forever.
  2. Domain Name Availability = To check domain name availability, first, use the search bar at the top of the page to check if your domain exists. Your website name will either be available or taken. If your domain is taken, this means that it is either reserved by the Registry or registered by someone else.

From this point, you just need to see if your website domain is available. Once you check the domain name availability, purchase your domain name then configure your webservers so that your domain will point to your website.

At this point you can create emails and even install wordpress!

Here is a video I put together that that breaks down the process. Enjoy and don’t forget to subscribe! Thanks
